As a new owners of a Husqvarna Robotic Solar Mower, vou are one of them. As manufacturer of the worlds first automatic lwan mower, we are another. Together we have chosen to invest in an ecological and anvironmental friendly option to keep our lawns neat and healthy. The solar mower cannot be compared with anything else previously used inour gardens. It's an entirely new concept, required a new way of thinking and changes inour approach to lawn mowing. From cutting the grass when it was long, we now make sure the grass never has the chance of besoming long.

The solar mower is best compared with a robot that wanders around the lawn an ist own continually cutting the grass without any human internvention.

The sun, which is nature's own power source, provides the solar mower with energy via solar cells and a preprogrammed microprocessor takes care of the rest.

In the same way as we have learnt to use personal computers in our daily work, we shall now laern to use computers in the garden.

Working method and behavior pattern (Top)

The fundamental principle behind your solar mower is that it cuts continuously, steered by the availibility of daylight. After you start the lawn mower does not need to be switched off until the season is over

However, the blades, cutting disc and the underside of the lawn mower should be inspected and cleaned weekly to increase the service life of the lawn mower and to obtain the best mowing results.

If you wish to stop the mowing process and temporarily remove the lawn mower from the lawn, lift up the rear panel and switch off the power switch. The lawn mower will start again, if there is sufficient daylight, when you switch on the power switch, enterd the code and folded down the rear panel.

Your solar mower is equipped with a sophisticated mircoprocessor, which optmises the capacity of the lawn mower.

It searches for light (Top)

It continuoulsy analyses the current light conditions and avoids darker areas, for example, the shade. As the shade moves depending an the position of the sun, the lawn mower works in the light, or sunshine for the greater part of the day.

Some areas can permanently be in the shade - in such situations the microprocessor decides by reading off the battery status whether to start work or to wait a while longer.

(that does not sound unbelievable? It really works!)

The solar mower has two basic movement patterns. It always start ist work according to the random principle, i. e. the starting path is unplanned. Each time it hits an obstacle or senses the signal from the boundary wire (see the picture), the microprocessor signals a new direction, this is so designed that it never regularly repeats the same movement pattern.

During this phase the microprocessor registers the average length of the grass over the section it has cut.

When the lawn mower later comes to a section where the grass is longer than the registered average lenght, it then starts to mow systematically. It mows in a square or in spiral, which are then successively expanded. After this it returns to the random principle. This pattern is repeated constantly until the entire lawn is cut equally.
